International Nursing Week 2026: Honoring the Heart of Care
Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.
Every year, the world pauses to honor Nurses; the people who stand at the very center of healing. This year, from May 11–17, 2026, we celebrate International Nursing Week, with International Nurses Day observed on May 12, marking the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing.
This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” is a truth we witness every day in hospitals, long‑term care homes, community clinics, and homes all over the world. Nurses are the backbone of our health system. They are the steady hands, the calm voices, the advocates, the educators, and the protectors of dignity in moments when people are most vulnerable.
At D’Care Foundation, we see the impact of nurses not only in clinical settings but also in the community spaces where compassion is needed most. In our community, nurses embody the spirit of service that strengthens the fabric of our society.
The Power of an Empowered Nurse
Empowered nurses do more than provide care. They transform lives.
They are the ones who notice the small changes others might miss. They are the ones who sit with someone who is afraid, offering reassurance through presence alone. They are the ones who advocate fiercely for patients who cannot advocate for themselves.
Empowerment means giving nurses the tools, respect, and support they need to continue saving lives and uplifting communities.
This year’s theme reminds us that when nurses are empowered, entire health systems become stronger, communities become healthier, families become more resilient, and individuals especially seniors and vulnerable populations receive the compassionate, person‑centered care they deserve.
Honoring Nurses at D’Care Foundation
This week, we celebrate the nurses in our community, who partner with us, support our programs, and inspire our mission.
To every nurse out there, we say thank you.
Your work matters.
Your presence matters.
You matter.
As we honor International Nursing Week 2026, we encourage our community to take a moment to recognize the nurses in their lives. A message, a note of gratitude, or even a simple “thank you” can go a long way.
As an organization committed to care, connection, and community, D’Care Foundation remains dedicated to supporting the work of nurses and advocating for a future where they are empowered, valued, and celebrated every day, beyond this week.
